Here, you will step back in time to 15th century China where Ming dynasty scholars, the elite of their time, were cloistered behind high white walls. Then, after enjoying a delicious lunch at Chinatown's "Jade Dynasty" and a little time to browse the exotic shops and unique Chinese medicine stores, we will set off for UBC. Here we are booked in to visit two famous gardens.  The first is the Nitobe Memorial Garden, a traditional Japanese Tea and Stroll garden.  It is rated one of the top five Japanese gardens outside of Japan.  Each tree, stone and shrub has been deliberately placed to reflect harmony and nature. The next garden is the UBC Botanical Garden which curates a collection of ca. 12 000 plants from temperate regions around the world. Here temperate forest plants of British Columbia, eastern North America and Asia are curated in woodland gardens, while a classic alpine garden displays the diverse flora of high-altitude regions of the world. We will have guided tours of all three gardens.
